Geolocation can significantly improve the conversion rate of your online store by creating a personalized and convenient shopping experience for your customers. This feature enables automatic redirection of language and currency based on the customer's location.How the "Auto Switch Language" Feature WorksCurrency: The currency will be automatically redirected based on the customer’s IP address.Language: The language can be redirected based on either the customer's browser language or their IP address, depending on your selected settings.How to Set Up Geolocation RedirectionGo to Switcher.Scroll down to the Geolocation section.You can choose to redirect the language based on the customer’s IP address or browser language.For currency, check the option to redirect based on the customer’s IP address.Important Notes:This feature requires the Switcher to be published in order to function properly.Geolocation will affect customers on their first visit. How to Remove Additional Language or Currency Selectors from Your Theme
If your store has multiple language or currency selectors that you no longer need, you can remove them by following these steps based on their source.Removing Theme-Built Language/Currency SelectorsIf the selector is built into your theme, follow these steps to remove it:1. Go to Online Store > Themes in your Shopify admin.2. Click Customize to enter the theme editor.3. Navigate to the section that contains the language or currency selector.4. Click on the section, and on the left panel, you will see options for Country/Region Selector and Language Selector.5. Toggle off the selectors to disable them.6. Click Save to apply the changes.Note: If the selectors appear in both the header and footer, you need to disable them separately in each section.Removing Selectors from Other Translation AppsIf the language or currency selector comes from a third-party translation app, you can remove it in two ways:Disable the selector within the app settings – Most translation apps provide an option to turn off the selector in their widget settings. Check the app’s settings and disable the selector if available.Disable the app’s embed in your theme – If you are no longer using the translation app, you can remove its widget by:Going to Online Store > Themes.Clicking Customize to open the theme editor.Navigating to App embeds.Locating the translation app and toggling off the embed.Clicking Save to confirm the changes. Without publishing the switcher, Geolocation will not work.1. Switch Store Language/Currency Based on User’s LocationIf you have enabled Auto Language Switch based on Visitors' Location or Auto Switch Currency, Langwill uses the IP address to detect the user’s location and adjust the language or currency accordingly.Step 1: Use a VPN to Simulate a Different Country's NetworkTo test how the site reacts to different locations, use a VPN to switch to the network of the target country. You can check your IP address using this website: [WhatIsMyIPAddress](https://whatismyipaddress.com/).Step 2: Clear Your Browser CacheBrowsers often remember your previous session's language settings. To ensure the website uses your new IP address for geolocation, clear the cache. Here’s how:- Open your browser’s Developer Tools (Inspect Element).- Go to the **Application** tab.- Find **Local Storage** and clear the cache.Step 3: Refresh the WebsiteOnce the cache is cleared, refresh the site, and it should automatically switch to the appropriate language and currency based on your new IP address.---2. Customize PositionFirstly,select the embedding style for the switcher on the page.Embed: The widget is embedded as a component of the page, fixed in a specific position.Float: The widget floats on the page; you can choose whether to fix it in a specific position or let it move with the page.Then, click on the switcher, then drag the widget to the desired position 2. Customize LayoutSwitch to the Layout Tab. You can choose the display elements of the switcher and change their order by dragging.Select the style of the dropdown box.If you want to customize the style of the selection box individually, check the "Custom selector element individually"  and set the  elements for the selection box separately. If unchecked, the switcher button and the selection box will remain consistent.3. Customize StyleIf you want the switcher‘s style to match the theme's style, switch to the Style Tab.You can adjust the switcher‘s style, including the widget background color, button color, font color, and border.If none of the above operations allow you to customize the widget to a suitable position or style, you can achieve this by editing the CSS code in the Style Tab.You should switch to the mobile view to customize the switcher for the mobile experience.
