What are the differences between Translation model?
What are the differences between Translation model?

In this article, we'll explain the differences between the two translation models: Advanced and Standard.

    • Choose Standard mode if you need to quickly launch a language with automatic translations, minimal vocabulary usage, and little manual editing.

    • Choose Advanced mode if SEO and translation accuracy are important to you. It offers higher translation accuracy and full control over editing the translated content.

  • The core difference between the two translation modes lies in translation accuracy, the level of editing flexibility, and the vocabulary consumption.

Here’s a more detailed breakdown of the pros and cons of each translation type:

    Advanced Mode:

    Pros:

    1. Higher accuracy – Translations are powered by our AI engine, leading to more precise results.

    2. Editable translations – After translation, you can view and manually correct the translations in the details page.

    3. Fast page display and SEO benefits – Since translations are processed on the backend through Shopify Translate API, they display quickly on the page and are more beneficial for SEO.

    Cons:

    1. Vocabulary consumption – The word count on your website will determine how much vocabulary is consumed.

    2. Manual updates needed –If default content is updated, you’ll need to enable automatic translation updates to update translations automatically. If automatic updates are not enabled, you’ll need to manually update the translations in Langwill.

    Standard Mode:

    Pros:

    1. Low cost – Minimal vocabulary usage, making it a cost-effective choice.

    2. Automatic updates – Content is automatically scanned and translated, and it gets updated without needing manual intervention (manual translations require automatic updates to be enabled or need to be updated manually).

    3. Third-party app translation support – Can automatically translate almost all content from third-party apps.

    Cons:

    1. Slower initial load – Since the translation is processed on the frontend, the first translation load may take a bit longer.

    2. Accuracy similar to Google Translate – Translations are not as precise as Advanced mode.

    3. Limited editing options – You can’t fully edit translations in this mode. To correct translations, you need to click “Click” to input your own translation or use the translation button on the right side (which consumes word credit).

Of course, you can also switch translation types if your requirements change.
